Explore Wrist and Ankle Restraints
Wrist and ankle restraints offer a versatile introduction to bondage while giving more experienced partners plenty of ways to develop their play. From soft ties and padded cuffs to connected restraint systems, each design creates a different balance of movement, positioning and control.
The SEI MIO collection includes wrist restraints, ankle cuffs, silicone cuffs, silky ties, hog-tie sets and under-mattress restraints. Whether you prefer gentle restriction or more structured BDSM play, choosing the right style can help you explore with greater comfort and confidence.
Choosing the Right Bondage Restraints
Consider the material, fastening, adjustability and intended position before choosing a restraint. The best wrist and ankle cuffs should fit securely without placing excessive pressure on the skin, joints or circulation.
Padded Wrist and Ankle Cuffs
Padded bondage cuffs spread pressure across a wider area, helping to create a more comfortable fit. Adjustable fastenings make them suitable for different wrist and ankle sizes and allow partners to refine the fit during play.
These restraints can be a good starting point for beginners, particularly when they include simple fastenings that can be released quickly.
Soft Ties and Silky Restraints
Silky restraints provide a softer aesthetic and a less structured form of restriction. They can be used for gentle bondage, teasing and intimate role play without the heavier appearance of traditional cuffs.
Soft does not automatically mean risk-free. Avoid narrow knots, check circulation regularly and ensure the restraints can be released promptly.
Silicone Bondage Cuffs
Flexible silicone cuffs are lightweight, easy to store and useful for spontaneous restraint play. Depending on their size and design, they may be worn around the wrists or ankles and connected in different positions.
Inspect silicone restraints for splits, stretching or weakened areas before each use. Stop using them if the material becomes damaged.
Connected Restraint Systems
Under-mattress restraints, hog-tie sets and cross-cuff designs create more defined positions by connecting multiple limbs or anchoring cuffs around a bed. These systems can provide greater restriction than individual wrist cuffs or ankle restraints.
Begin with a position the wearer can maintain comfortably. Avoid pulling limbs beyond their natural range of movement or placing unnecessary pressure on the shoulders, hips, knees or lower back.
How to Use Wrist and Ankle Restraints Safely
Discuss consent, boundaries and the intended position before beginning. Agree on a safe word and an additional non-verbal signal in case the wearer cannot speak clearly.
Apply each cuff so it is secure but not painfully tight. You should generally be able to slide a finger between the restraint and the skin. Check the wearer frequently for pain, numbness, tingling, cold skin, swelling or unusual discolouration, and release the restraint immediately if any of these occur.
Keep keys, clips and quick-release fastenings within reach. Never leave a restrained person unattended, and never use ordinary bondage cuffs or connectors for suspension unless the complete system is specifically designed and professionally rated to support body weight.
Caring for Bondage Cuffs and Restraints
Follow the individual product instructions because fabric, silicone, metal hardware and padded materials may require different cleaning methods. Wipe or wash compatible surfaces after use and allow every component to dry completely before storage.
Inspect straps, stitching, buckles, connectors and fastening points regularly. Replace any restraint that shows signs of tearing, fraying, cracking or weakened hardware.
